The Youth Red Cross was introduced in the college in the year 1994 and functions as a wing of the Indian Red Cross Society, Orissa State Branch, Bhubaneswar. The principal nominates two members of the teaching staff as counsellor and Lady Counsellor in order to promote and organise Red Cross activities among the Youth in the unit. Membership of the YRC unit is open to all the students of the college who desire to participae in its programmes of activities. The motto of YRC is "To Serve"
Aim :
The aim of Youth Red Cross are : (a) Promotion of health and hygiene, (b) Service to others, (c) World friendliness.
The Fundamental Principles :
The fundamental principles of Youth Red Cross are as follows : l Humanity, l Impartiality, l Neutrality, l Independence, l Voluntary Service, l Unity, l Universality Objectives of the Youth Red Cross are to promote among the students philantropic service, friendship, leadership, self-reliance, dignity of labour and skills to render necessary service as and when required. Recently, disaster preparedness has been accepted as one of the service area.
Activities :
Every year the Youth Red Cross Unit conducts a basket of activities such as training programmes, camps, meetings, rallies, awareness programmes, seminars, debates, various competitions, observation of important days, etc. in order to fulfill its objectives. The YRC Unit organises Blood Donation Camp in the college each year. Selected volunteers get the rare opportunity to take part in the District level, Zonal level, State and Inter-state level YRC Camps.
